Brian holds a Master of Planning from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Political Science and Economics. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Alberta Professional Planners Institute and the Urban Land Institute. Brian sits on the City of Calgary Urban Design Review Panel (UDRP).

Brian is an accomplished city planner and urban designer with considerable experience working on innovative planning and design projects in Canada and overseas. He spent the early part of his career in London, UK  working on projects at all scales ranging from regional strategies, new village masterplans, inner-city urban design strategies and detailed streetscape designs. Brian believes that the careful attention to detail at all scales is crucial to delivering projects that result in the creation of places and spaces that are a positive contribution to the urban fabric and will be appreciated and used over time. On all the projects he is involved with, Brian combines his knowledge of market fundamentals, policy environment, urban design, the approval process and stakeholder negotiation to facilitate the approval of complex projects, particularly in the context of urban intensification.

Veronique Pelletier

Veronique Pelletier

Associate, Planner
RPP, MCIP, CSLA

Véronique holds a Master’s degree in Land Use Planning and Regional Development from Université Laval, specializing in environmental planning and urban design; and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Université de Montréal. Additionally, Véronique holds a College Diploma in Ornamental Horticulture. Véronique is a full member of the Association of Landscape Architects of Quebec (AAPQ), the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), and a Registered Professional Planner with the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) and member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). 

Accustomed to working in multidisciplinary teams, Véronique is experienced in developing sustainable designs and solutions to a multi-scale of projects. Her work at O2 includes planning and design services for parks and protected areas, recreation and open space planning, and urban design. Véronique’s recent project experience with O2 includes the Cochrane Open Space Master Plan and the City of Red Deer River Valley & Tributaries Park Concept Plan, recipient of the 2011 Canadian Institute of Planners - Recreation Planning Award.

Michael Magnan

Michael Magnan

Associate, Landscape Architect
MArch, BES

Michael holds a Master of Architecture Degree from the University of Calgary, and a B. Sc. in Environmental Sciences from University of Alberta. He has a wide diversity of professional experience in the fields of: architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, green roof design, campus master planning, landscape water management, and has extensive experience in design visualization. Throughout his career, Michael has focused on the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of sustainability in all aspects of his work. His interdisciplinary approach provides integrated, sustainable solutions that meet the needs of the client. 

Michael’s projects at O2 include project management and design for multiple projects at the University of Calgary, including the EEEL Centre, and the U of C Landscape Master Plan. Other major projects include the Num Ti Jah Lodge Master Plan, Telus World of Science and Creative Kids Museum, and the River Parks Design Development Plan. He contributes visualization expertise on most O2 Projects.

Matt Williams

Matt Williams

Associate, Senior Landscape Architect
BES, MLA, AALA

Matt holds an Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph where he was awarded the ASLA Award of Merit. His thesis research examined the relationship between biophysical and socio-cultural systems in an urban landscape, attempting to integrate urbanism and ecological disciplines through common frameworks. Matt also holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science in planning from the University of Waterloo, specializing in urban design and parks planning.

Prior to joining O2, Matt worked with the landscape division of Marshall Macklin Monaghan where he focused on construction drawings for parks, school yards, and sports fields. His work at O2 focuses on fine-scale landscape architecture.

Karina Verhoeven

Karina Verhoeven

Associate, Senior Landscape Architect
BLA, LEED AP, AALA

Karina holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of British Columbia. A licensed landscape architect and LEED Accredited Professional, she has participated as a subcommittee member on the California Landscape Architects Technical Committee, and has facilitated Landscape Architects Registration Exam workshops in Sacramento and Calgary. Currently, Karina is a member of the Alberta Low Impact Development Partnership’s Landscape Committee.

Karina has worked on a wide range of projects in Oregon, California, and Alberta. Her project portfolio includes public and private sector commercial sites, educational facilities, streetscapes, regional and local parks, and mountain recreational sites. She is engaged in adapting green technologies to the Alberta environment, and has incorporated green roofs, bioswales, xeriscaping, and other low impact development measures into her past projects. She has extensive experience in all aspects of project development, including conceptual design, site planning, project management, production of construction documents, and graphic presentation of drawings, maps, and other information. Karina is also experienced in public consultation and on-site construction review. She contributes design services, project management, construction administration, and work planning support to the firm’s design team.
