Centre City Parks - Public Realm Enhancements

Client The City of Calgary
Location Calgary | Alberta | Canada

In 2009, the City of Calgary, Parks took a step toward implementing the recommendations of the Centre City Plan through the development of a visioning document illustrating the potential of the plan. O2 was enlisted to prepare rendered vignettes and plans illustrating design possibilities for the Calgary city centre area.

O2 undertook a literature review of all current plans and reports affecting the city centre and organized the existing and proposed types of public spaces into a typology framework. In collaboration with The City of Calgary, several sites were selected as Catalytic Projects to start the process of revitalizing the City’s downtown public realm.

O2 developed preliminary conceptual visualizations of these Catalytic Projects and prepared a visioning document describing the spatial typology and the conceptual designs of the selected sites, including 3D renderings and precedent imagery. An implementation plan and preliminary costing information were also included in the visioning document.
