
MIKE GALLANT
WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER
Mike is a water resources engineer registered in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan who specializes in the development of river engineering, surface water management, innovative stormwater management and watershed restoration solutions. He combines a passion for using natural patterns and processes to inform design with an interdisciplinary focus that includes engineering, fluvial geomorphology, natural resources management and ecology to complete projects that involve analyzing, designing and managing surface water systems.
Mike has several years of experience working on projects related to stream design and restoration, wetland design and restoration, Low Impact Development stormwater management, watercourse crossings, fish habitat compensation design, bioengineering, and erosion and sediment control design for forestry, oil and gas, mining and government clients. At O2, he is responsible for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modeling, watershed planning and management, conceptual and detailed design, construction document preparation, construction administration and project management. He has worked on projects located in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nunavut, Mali and Guinea.
Mike holds Master and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, where he received several awards including an NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship for his graduate work on integrating river engineering and aquatic ecology and a Young Alumni of the Year award for his volunteer work with Engineers Without Borders. Mike also holds a Certificate in Watershed Management from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Canadian Water Resources Association, the Society for Ecological Restoration, and the American Ecological Engineering Society.
