Tom Campbell Hill Natural Park
Client City of Calgary
Location Calgary | Alberta | Canada
An important native grassland and natural area, Tom Campbell Hill is highly valued by residents of Calgary as a local and regional open space. The park, situated on a bluff, provides outstanding views of the Bow River, the downtown core, and the zoo. The City of Calgary engaged the services of O2 to provide the park planning, design, construction and maintenance.
The project involved considerable resident involvement and consultation. O2 worked closely with the local citizen advisory team and was involved in fundraising for the project. The completed design for the area emphasizes and celebrates the inherent qualities of the site. The focus of the design is an interpretive gathering place, a circular structure with metal panels depicting important site features.
