Client Benign Energy
Location Pincher Creek | Alberta | Canada
Benign Energy and Kettles Hill Wind Energy are undertaking the development of new windfarms and expansions to existing windfarms in the Pincher Creek area of southern Alberta. As part of their public consultation strategy and effects mitigation, the clients contracted O2 to produce visual simulations of proposed developments for Kettles Hill and Heritage Farms.
O2 produced representations of both the existing landscape and simulations of the proposed windfarms by draping high-resolution colour aerial photography over a digital terrain model. GIS and visualization specialists rendered views from key locations surrounding the proposed windfarm developments. Ground level views were produced to simulate the windfarms as they would appear to vehicular traffic, residents and hikers. Additionally, elevated viewpoints were created from 300 metres above ground level to further assess the project’s visual impact.
