The City of Fernie solicited O2 to initiate a new signage program for the city. O2 provided a comprehensive signage strategy for the city that aimed to create a cohesive and contemporary brand enhancing visitor experience, leaving a lasting impression improving functionality and reinforcing Fernie’s authentic mountain character.
The comprehensive and cost effective signage strategy was critical to developing and communicating this brand. The cohesive signage program incorporated the following key elements, placemaking, wayfinding, and detailed design. As an ongoing program, the signage was designed to be scalable and modular. In the event of possible deterioration, repairs may be made to individual parts, avoiding the cost of complete sign replacement.
